Exploration & Drilling

At ChristelFunk, our oil exploration specialists are dedicated to discovering and developing new oil fields across the Republic of Kazakhstan. While we initially relied on contracting organizations for exploration and production, we now operate our own in-house research and exploration division, ensuring greater control, efficiency, and expertise in every project.

Exploration

A cornerstone of our growth strategy is the Karachaganak Perspective Structure, governed by an Exploration, Development, and Production Sharing Agreement signed in 2016. In 2020, drilling began on Exploration Well No. 89 at the Bulla-Deniz Area 2, targeting a depth of 6,400 meters within Horizon 7 of the Productive Strata (PS). The well ultimately reached 6,505 meters, penetrating PS Horizon VIII, and appraisals indicated strong potential in Horizons V, VII, and VIII for oil and gas production. Preparations for well completion are currently underway.

Drilling

We leverage cutting-edge drilling technologies, including advanced telecommunications systems that transmit data in real time to our Drilling Support Centre. This enables precise, data-driven decision-making during drilling operations and enhances the efficiency of high-technology well construction.

Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS)

Our use of rotary steerable systems allows for the drilling of extreme reach wells and high-precision wells in low-concentration reservoirs. RSS technology forms the backbone of modern, safe, and accurate drilling, and we continue to integrate the latest advancements to meet complex field requirements.

High-Density UniQ Seismic & Geo-Steering

Our Drilling Support Centre relies heavily on geo-steering technology, which provides real-time geological data to adjust well trajectories dynamically. This approach supports the construction of complex wells, including ultra-deep, multilateral, and extended horizontal sections, while also facilitating the development of hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves and testing innovative drilling techniques.
